SELFISHNESS IS THE SEED TO ALL SIN
1 John 3:17
But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
This is a sin that is something God hates. Jesus has given us freely the good things of God everyday he left us with two commandments . That many are claiming to follow but by their fruits we can see as we closely examine their private lives it is just the opposite. Selfishness breeds all kinds of sins in the world. from Hate toward others, adultries, murders, corruption of every kind, variances, gossip, slander, backbiting, pride, starvation, greed, hopelessness, false peace within. The Sin of selfishness kills more people than all the sins combined.
Most people who don’t know that they are possessed by the demons of this sin are very greedy. They believe that they are entitled to have things from others, but will not lift a finger to help their brothers or sisters in need. This is the same thing that the pharisee’s commited. They walked around criticizing Jesus for healing the sick but would not lift a finger to help him they slandered him and caused his crucifixon on the cross. The selfish people of our day because of that great sin will in fact be found guilty of the blood of Jesus if they fail to repent. Jesus said give to a brother or sister in need asking nothing back. Many of the people suffering from this demon will grab every good thing they can get their hands on and refuse to share what they have with others. they will lie, steal and cheat, but the minute you do this to them, they cry foul.
As a man or woman reap they will sow. The Word of God is not mocked, people who are practicing this type of unrighteousness will be judged if they fail to repent. Material things is their God. Many self professed believers of Jesus are guilty of this they have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof . They would not know what to do if they lost their materialistic gain. As you can see at the judgment of the sheep and goats put on the same playing field with everyone else, without the materialism. King Jesus judges them as accursed, because they did not give to any of the people who were his and they seen the need and over hoarded what they had. These lost people would not give up their money for Jesus, just like the rich young ruler as spoken about in the scripture below.
The Rich Young Ruler
Mk. 10.17-31 · Lk. 18.18-30
16 ¶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Ex. 20.13 · Deut. 5.17 Thou shalt not commit adultery, Ex. 20.14 · Deut. 5.18 Thou shalt not steal, Ex. 20.15 · Deut. 5.19 Thou shalt not bear false witness, Ex. 20.16 · Deut. 5.20
19 Honor thy father and thy mother: Ex. 20.12 · Deut. 5.16 and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Lev. 19.18
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible
Even the servant who hid the masters talents was cast into the outer darkness for not sharing his masters money he took what he had and hid it into the ground. This is just another example of selfishness. The sin of coveteouness is very common with the sin of selfishness. They want from others and gain what they want, but never do they give to others who ask them for help in fact they cheat them even if they decide to give to and they think it is a great work that they have done. They condemn others who do. This is the reason why God will condemn them if they do not repent for this very evil sin. To give is not a matter of how much you have you can be very rich while not having a lot of material gain to give. God judges the heart. look at the widow and the mite, she was richer than the pharisee’s around her.
Mark 12:42-43 (King James Version)
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
We must with this given knowledge must make sure that we are not practicing the unrighteousness of selfishness in our public lives and even in our private lives. We must all fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal life . All that we do for Jesus Christ will be rewarded in eternity. examine yourself are you guilty of this sin? if so it is time to come to Jesus and repent and never make a practice of this sin again. In order to be rapture ready we must practice righteousness not unrighteousness.
Revelation 3:14 – 22
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
