Numbers 13:32 – 33
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
Numbers 14:1 – 9
Then all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!”Why is the LORD bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder; would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”Then they told each other, “Let’s assign a leader and go back to Egypt.”Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear th em not
The Result of the Evil report
Numbers 14:10 – 21
But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they. And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word:But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
God forgives but there were consequences for doubting his words.
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it
The blessing of a good report
Numbers 14:23 – 35
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land where into he went; and his seed shall possess it.
The consequences of doubting the Lord once again
(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
As you can see this did not go well for the Children of Israel, who doubted the Lord. Each of us must take this lesson and apply it to our daily lives. When we doubt the Lord, We are acting like the children of Israel, who doubted him. Then when we believe the Lord, We act like Caleb and Joshua. The Children of Israel who did not have faith in the Lord were rewarded with exactly what they had faith in, and that was not going into the promised land. They mumbled, groaned, and complained. Even though the Lord told them they would go, they believed they would not go, so that is what they got,. What they had faith in.
One thing that is important that we must remember in these last days, is the good things that God has done for us. we should adopt a Joshua Caleb attitude in the midst of adversity. I don’t know if you have noticed, but it has been nothing good on the news,or for that matter, in any type of media. These are evil reports designed to give people a sense of hopelessness. If one is not in the Word of God these reports will cause many to fall into a spirit of fear, and this evil spirit is not from God. As the children of Israel did, some are falling from the faith and joining the crowd that is saying, “Where is the Promise of his Coming?” Or they might have stopped believing in the rapture altogether, because of fear from the news headlines that is breeding a doubting and fearful spirit to the masses.
But I am here to tell you that, this is all the more to believe. The negative things that are happening in this world should strengthen your faith, in knowing that the Lord is very near to rapturing his church. Just by the things happening around us. We who believe On the Word of the Lord without wavering are awake, and we can clearly see this happening to the masses. It almost resembles mass hypnosis or a trance like state that the world is under. Many fell back asleep and lost faith in watching for the bridegroom. By the discouraging distractions of this world it is easy to fall into complacency. But I urge you to believe on the Lord and abstrain from all appearances of evil. If something you read or see causes anxiety it is time to turn away from it.
Lot’s wife looked back at the evil that God told her not to look at, and as a result she did not believe. Just like the children of Israel. She was destroyed because of unbelief. Some with regret will not believe that Jesus is not coming to save his church from the wrath to come, and this will be their reward.
Every human being on the earth have faith. They either have faith to believe or not to believe. But they still have faith in something, and everyone will be rewarded according to their faith, in God or not in God.
I am calling out to you right now, to have faith in Jesus to save you, and to spare you from the things that is coming upon this earth. I am calling out to you to believe on him to save you, eternally from death, hell, and the grave. The only way you can have this faith is to trust in him and believe on him. He can give you eternal life, all you have to do is believe on him. In order to do so is a step of faith. You must ask him to save you, and give your life to him. He will not turn you away. He will cleanse you from all unrighteousness., but you must promise to turn to him with all of your heart. He came to this earth over 2,000 years ago as God who became flesh and he chose to die on a wooden cross so that you and I will not go to hell.
. He had you on his mind when he died on that cross. Hell must be a terrible place if the creator of all things came to this earth to die on a humble cross for you. That is true love, I am asking you to seek him with your whole heart, and trust in him by faith. He is waiting for you. When you receive him don’t turn away like the children of Israel and this dying world. You will have what you believe, the choice is yours alone.
